Today was a premier in French cinema: a French actor won an Oscar!

Several were nominated before, but this is the first time and actor takes the golden statue home; an actress did a few years back, but never an actor.

So on TV, in the newspapers, everywhere today they were talking about this guy: Jean Dujardin and about his movie the Artist (it was the big winner of the night also, it got 5 Oscars).

It’s funny because the French think they did something great: they showed the Americans they are better at something (you know the French have this obsession in life, they always look what their neighbor’s do and try to do it better and then praise themselves about it (whether it was the German or the Englishmen or even the Americans)), but in my (humble) opinion in this case they didn’t have to prove anything; the guy is a great actor and everybody knew it from a long time. But now that he got his Oscar it’s like suddenly they realized “Waw! We have a good actor with us!” We’ll just have to wait and see what the big yellow guy is going to do to his career 🙂

In celebration of this big day, and for the first time in the history of my blog, I will put a picture that I did not take myself (just because I love the actor and it’s my way of showing it 😛 (I just hope he will remain humble after all this publicity :S)); so ladies and gentlemen, if you do not know him, I present you Jean Dujardin:

See you tomorrow!

in my opinion he is no gerard depadieu, his depiction of obelix in the asterix and obelix movies was perfect.

    • Really? Eventhough we usually agree on movies but this time I have to disagree. IMHO Depardieu made Obelix look like a silly big fat warrior (which he isn’t in the books at all! He might be fat but definitely not silly)
